Chris Stenrud

Chief Communications & Brand Officer

Chris Stenrud is the chief communications and brand officer for Teladoc Health and a member of the CEO’s senior leadership team. In this role, he is responsible for developing and implementing communications, marketing and engagement strategies that advance the Teladoc Health brand and increase understanding of the company’s service and product offerings among consumers, clients and other external stakeholders. He also leads employee communications and corporate social responsibility efforts for Teladoc Health. Chris has led the rapid growth of a high performing communications team since 2020 as the company experienced market-leading expansion accelerated by the coronavirus pandemic and multiple mergers and acquisitions.

Chris has extensive executive leadership experience across the government and health care sectors. Prior to Teladoc Health, he served as global head of communications for Cigna Corporation, driving external and internal communications for the company during two of the most significant mergers in healthcare: Cigna-Anthem and Cigna-Express Scripts. At Cigna, he also launched the company’s effort to address loneliness and social isolation in a campaign garnering more than two billion media impressions in its first year.

Prior to Cigna he served as executive director of government relations and health policy communications at Kaiser Permanente, where he led internal and external communication strategies on federal and state policy issues and served as the organization’s national spokesperson on public policy issues.  He joined Kaiser Permanente as communications director for the Office of the Chairman & CEO.

Between roles at Kaiser Permanente, Chris served as deputy assistant secretary for public affairs at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services as a member of the Obama Administration. Chris has done three tours of duty in the federal government, including serving in senior communications roles in the United States Senate and as special assistant for public affairs at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services during the Clinton Administration.

Chris also spent seven years as a media relations and public affairs advisor in Washington, DC, running the Washington public affairs practice of Golin and holding other key PR agency roles.

Chris graduated from the Georgetown University School of Foreign Service.
