Expanding telestroke access in rural communities

In 2005, South Carolina faced a stroke crisis with limited resources and high mortality rates. To address this, the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) launched the Telestroke program in partnership with Teladoc Health. Leveraging the Solo™ platform, MUSC’s stroke specialists provide rapid, virtual stroke care to underserved rural areas.

Through telestroke, teleneurology and tele-EMS, MUSC offers high-quality stroke services, significantly improving treatment times and outcomes. Since its inception, the program has grown to cover nearly the entire state, cutting stroke-related mortality and expanding care access to millions.
